What is Step on Poverty?
Step on Poverty is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to give students the opportunity to pursue their ambitions under the guidance of peers, mentors, and the principal of economic pragmatism. Through different initiatives, student members are given the support, funds, and resources necessary to succeed in whatever they choose to do. Step on Poverty is based in Troy, Michigan, where it is currently promoting charitable responsibility, business acumen, and environmental sustainability while venturing into game design, graphic design, education, and medicine.
BREADTH OF OPERATIONS
Step on Poverty follows an initiative model wherein students start and cultivate their own ambitions in separate initiatives or support existing projects. Learn all about our past, current, and future initiatives that have made, are making, or will make incredible community impact!
Step on Poverty's first completed initiative wherein students collected over 9,000 pairs of shoes used to support micro-enterprises in developing nations.
GAME DESIGN INITIATIVE
Games are big part of the lives of many students. Step on Poverty members are using programs like Unity to learn how to develop games like the ones they played growing up!
Students are helping local businesses improve their business models through enhanced online marketing campaigns and other innovative solutions.
Members of Step on Poverty are developing lesson plans and thorough pedagogies to pass down their knowledge to future generations. Through education they seek to improve their community!
Through education and the provision of sustainable opportunities, students are promoting sustainability throughout their communities.
Many of Step on Poverty's members plan to pursue medicine in the future. This initiative gives these students the opportunity to get hands on experience for their future careers.
